AIRPORT FIRE SERVICE

This one was an exciting one for me, getting to shoot Air-Side was like a dream come true for the child in me. I was able to shoot (with escort) on active runways to showcase and create new imagery of the Airport Fire Service.

It was a real privilege to be given this opportunity. Big thanks to Kerry for this.

The imagery is used for all purposes.

RED BULL ILLUME

2019 FINALIST, BRUNICO, ITALY

This is the big one for anyone in adventure or action sports photography.
Every three years Red Bull do a competition, judged by over 50x judges.
This year I had an image make the finals, out of 59,551 entries.

We flew to Germany, then shuttled to the Dolomites, Italy for the Winner Award Ceremony at LUMEN museum.
Amazing experience and a great opportunity to meet and network with some exceptional people.

The image is now part of the 2019 book and in the exhibition that travels around galleries until the next Illume.

Glendhu Morning Shoot-6238.jpg

BIKE GLENDHU

IMAGERY AND COLLATERAL

It has been very exciting to be part of this project for the last 18 months, thanks to John, Claire and the rest of the team at Bike Glendhu for bringing me in.

I was tasked to create pre-opening imagery for web and social in 2018 with Tom Hey regarding the building, and also Conor Macfarlane and Phoebe Coers to make some of the bike focused imagery.

In 2019 we went back in before opening to get up to date imagery showing the improvements, new trails, and infrastructure with a diverse range of clientele.

Imagery from the latest shoot is for Web, Social, Signage and Advertising.

MONSTER ENERGY - LIVE+ Social Campaigns

JF_2019 - Web site LIVE+-5869.jpg

LIVE+

New Direction Social Campaign

For the 2020 LIVE+ vision I had been breifed to try something a bit different, we’d be moving away from the core “adventure” market and towards the cities, to speak to the consumers in a way that would reflect how the beverage was being used a bit more accurately.

We headed to Auckland to shoot with a super cool group of ambassadors, Usai Badday, Fili Tapa, Franz Liu, and Dave Tai.

All images mainly for social and POS use.

CHRISTCHURCH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT x CAP - Gate 15 Collaboration

JF_2019 - Airport Job Finals-0685.jpg

Christchurch Airport

GATE 15 CHRISTCHURCH ADVENTURE PARK COLLAB

JF_2019 - Airport Job Finals--5.jpg

First off, huge thanks to Kerry, Sarah and the team at Christchurch International Airport Ltd, and Nick and the crew from Christchurch Adventure Park for making this one possible!

To date, this is the largest single installation of my work anywhere. I’ve had billboards before, but this is a whole different level. A complete immersive experience inside the new Gate 15 transit area and walkways at Christchurch Airport. Made up of 8 different scenes, covering the entirety of the air-side transit area and adjoining walkways.

This was a long project, finally being officially unveiled on Thursday 11th of July 2019, it had been set in motion in November 2018. With a space as large and as complex as this, much preparation and planning was needed to create the effect that was required by the client. We needed the imagery to make sense both from the top looking down perspective (leaving to go to the plane) and bottom travelling up perspective (disembarking entering airport). We needed the tone and feel to be right, and on brand, for both parties.

The idea was to simulate standing at the top point of the Aventure Park, with correct orientation, looking out towards the East and West elevations respectively. Due to the nature of the internal architecture and the way the hills work, this was no easy feat. Colours and lighting needed to match to give a fluid and cohesive feel to the space.

For this space, we required single scenes up to 10 metres in length in places, so to provide the best detail, and to create a compression effect where the backgrounds are pulled in, every image was shot as an action-panorama. Some scenes are made up of 30+ frames, providing mega levels of detail when blown up to these sizes, resulting in an ultra-sharp looking finished product.

I want to thank all the riders, models, stand-ins, and crew that made this happen.
Nick Dwan for assisting with shoots, additional design work by Kerry Mitchell, City Care for prepping the site, and AdGraphix for printing and installing the imagery.

Please keep an eye out next time you’re flying in/out.

CHRISTCHURCH ADVENTURE PARK

2018 PROMOTIONAL + MARKETING

It’s been a big year with the Adventure Park, and we’re currently in the middle of a few exciting projects that I can’t talk about just yet.

We’ve made pre-roll cinema ads for Womens riding for the Cycle Chic Film Tour.
We’ve done editorial articles in SPOKE Magazine featuring Joe Nation, and in NZMTB Magazine featuring, Billy Meaclem, Boaz Hebblethwaite, Reta Trotman, and Craig Oliver.
We’ve also contributed to the print collateral, web and social imagery.

I’ve also ridden there. A lot.

MONSTER ENERGY

LIVE+ ENERGY REBRAND

One of the bigger commissions I’ve undertaken in the second half of 2018. Currently as I’m writing this, I’m only just getting started.

We’re looking to make new imagery to show that LIVE+ gives you ‘energy for the adventure’.

Large shoots all over NZ involving many different activities and types of Adventure.
Searching for authenticity and real life throughout the campaign.
Mainly social usage at this point.

Exciting things to come as well!

CRANKWORX

KIDSWORX 2018 COVERAGE, WHISTLER

This year I got the opportunity to join the Crankworx team in Whistler to cover the Kidsworx Events. This was an awesome chance to jump in with a brand that I’ve had a lot to do with in the past, but not directly.

I created all the imagery for all the Kidsworx events at the Crankworx 2018 Whistler stop.
All imagery for social and marketing, larger galleries available on CWX Flickr.

I’m very happy about this one. Being recognised by a very different and prestigious subset of the photographic audience.

In 2018 I was a Photographer of the year finalist, and finalist for the ProGear Photo-story, for my bike images from around NZ.

We had a great night in Auckland celebrating the awards and catching up with peers.
Images published online and in NZ Geographic Magazine.
